School breakfast and student behavior

The School Breakfast Program (SBP) is one of the largest nutrition assistance programs serving school-aged children in US. It provides reimbursement to states for operation breakfast schools. Student participation SBP is, however, much lower than National Lunch (NSLP). Because missing could result hunger that then influence children's interpersonal relations and classroom behavior (i.e., disciplinary infractions), some schools have implemented after bell (BAB), which encompasses alternative delivery methods make available school day commences. We use a difference-in-differences design with variation BAB exposure across grades study effect on behavior. find infractions drop adopted BAB. Moreover, impact more pronounced among minority those eligible free reduced-price meals.
